As we draw closer to the day which will decide our nations' fate for the next three years, we bring together speakers from the right and the left to discuss what housing will be like in New Zealand for the foreseeable future.  Property is a hot topic for this election, and our speakers this evening from both major parties will be addressing investors concerns and their parties vision for housing the people of this country.  There will be time to ask both speakers questions after their addresses, and a chance to talk one-on-one with them after the event to get a better informed view of where both sides sit.  Honourable Phil Heatley, Minster for Housing and Fisheries, and MP for Whangarei will be speaking alongside Moana Mackey, Labour Spokesperson for Housing and Labour List MP on this important subject.

Topics covered will include:  Capital gains and other taxes on property, energy efficiency ratings for houses, the evolving role & development of Housing New Zealand, the role of private sector housing, and what we can expect as property investors to assist or hinder us in the future.

28th November 2011 Unit Titles Act - What's that?  John Greenwood, Partner at Greenwood Roche and Chisnall, Wellington specialty law firm

Do you own an apartment or other property which has, or should have, a Body Corporate?  Are you considering buying or selling such a property?  If so, you need to attend this meeting.  John Greenwood, Partner at Greenwood Roche and Chisnall, Wellington specialty law firm with public advisory arm on building and housing issues, will be addressing this meeting covering the important points from the changes to the Unit Titles Act, many of which come into effect on December 20th.

Key points to be covered are:  
1. What do you need to do to comply with the changes to the Act?
2. What to look for as a purchaser (what are the warning signs of problems with Bodies Corporate?)  
3. What do you need to prepare before selling a unit titled property?
4. What are the roles of committee, and the responsibilities (and should you be involved?)  
5. How should you resolve problems with tenants, other owners, or the committee?
6. When to get expert help - what qualities should you be looking for when you seek assistance?

John Greenwood is fresh from teaching lawyers about the changes to the Unit Titles Act, so get the information from the source.  The information you will gain from this meeting may save you many thousands of dollars and hours of anguish by knowing what you need to about Body Corporates.
